Meserve saves Eriksson’s life during a battle but the two men clash when, in a nearby village, Meserve orders his men to kidnap a young Vietnamese woman, Than Thi Oanh (Thuy Thu Le). When Eriksson refuses to take part in the abuse of the woman, he is ostracised from the rest of the squad and ordered to keep quiet. During a firefight, Eriksson is knocked unconscience by Meserve who then, along with his men, murders Oanh. Meserve and his men try to cover up the murder but Eriksson won’t let the secret die.
