The insurers of the $100 million Monet send investigator Catherine Banning (Rene Russo) to assist NYPD Detective Michael McCann (Denis Leary) in solving the crime. Before long, Banning and Crown begin a steamy affair, though Crown believes that Banning only wants the painting. In an attempt to find out where her loyalties lie, Crown returns the painting and essentially turns himself in, hoping that Banning’s feelings for him will lead to an escape.
