Travelling to the airport, Clouseau accidentally blows up his car but assumes it to be an attempt on his life, so disguises himself before boarding his flight. His plane disappears en route to Lugash, so Marie Jouvet (Joanna Lumley), a journalist covering the story, sets out to interview those who knew him best, including his father (Richard Mulligan), his old boss, Chief Inspector Charles Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) and his old nemesis, Sir Charles Litton (David Niven). She also questions Mafia don Bruno Langlois (Robert Loggia) and tries to file a complaint against him, but Dreyfus refuses to press charges.
